Our management team is changing the fundamentals of the movie rental industry. They bring a wealth of diverse background experience ranging from high technology, to consumer-facing industries, including the movie rental business. Collectively, they have been involved in numerous and substantial start-ups, turnarounds, IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions.

Charles Berger

Chairman, & CEO
Mr. Berger joined DVDPlay in November 2005 as chairman, president, and CEO following four years as chairman of the board. Mr. Berger brings nearly 30 years of executive experience in the high tech industry. He was most recently the CEO of Nuance Communications and, previously, he served as CEO of Vicinity Corporation, AdForce, Inc., and Radius, Inc. Mr. Berger holds a BS in Business Administration from Bucknell University and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara.

Charlie Piper

President & COO
Mr. Piper joined DVDPlay in May 2008 as President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining DVDPlay he was Senior Vice President of Operations for Blackhawk Network, a market leader in prepaid and payments network and card-based financial solutions. At Blackhawk, Mr. Piper established operational support for Blackhawk's 80,000 retail partners as well as maintaining Safeway's front-end revenue programs. Before joining Blackhawk, he was Vice President of Corporate Operations for Safeway Inc.. His retail experience includes eleven years at Albertsons prior to joining Safeway’s Denver Division in 200. Mr. Piper received his MBA in Finance and Accounting with honors from Regis University in Colorado, where he also graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Jens Horstmann

Vice President and CTO
Mr. Horstmann has served as Vice President and CTO since November 2005. Prior to accepting this position, he was president and CEO of DVDPlay. Mr. Horstmann brings nearly 20 years of executive and engineering experience in the high tech industry. Prior to joining DVDPlay he was president and CEO of Open Grid, Inc. Previously, he founded Ensemble Solutions. His technical experience includes senior engineering, research and development positions at Siemens, LSI Logic Systems Research Laboratory, Sun Microsystems, and X1 Corporation.

Andrew Preston

Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Preston joined DVDPlay in July, 2007. Prior to joining DVDPlay, Mr. Preston was an interim CEO, CFO, COO and CMO for start-ups and turn-around companies through Venture Consulting and Valuations Group. Mr. Preston served as President for several companies including, Softbook where he increased sales ten fold the first year, and sold the company to Gem/Star TV Guide and TMaker-Deluxe Corporation where he raised venture capital funds and repositioned the company into a multi-product content and educational/entertainment software publisher, increasing revenue from $1M to $12M before selling the company to Deluxe Corporation.

Melissa Moore

Senior Vice President, Retail Sales & Marketing
Ms. Moore joined DVDPlay in April, 2007. Prior to joining DVDPlay, Ms. Moore was Safeway’s national account executive for 14 years at ADVO Inc. Prior to Safeway, Moore was senior account representative at the Oakland Tribune where she was part of the original development team responsible for launching the newspaper’s TMC product and Market Saturation Program.

Jim Godwin

Vice President, Manufacturing and Logistics
Mr. Godwin joined DVDPlay in September, 2006. Prior to joining DVDPlay, Mr. Godwin served as Director, Engineering and Program Management for Flextronics International. Before joining Flextronics, Mr. Godwin served as COO, EVP and CFO for SET Engineering. Mr. Godwin has extensive experience in bringing products into high-volume manufacturing in time quality critical disk environments. Mr. Godwin has been awarded 12 US patents. He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Tom Szwak

Vice President, Video
Before joining DVDPlay in December, 2006, Mr. Szwak was Vice President of Purchasing for Blockbuster Entertainment Inc. where he was responsible for the purchasing and distribution of all products and merchandise for more than 4,000 Blockbuster corporate and franchise stores for eight years. He left Blockbuster to take a Viacom interdivision promotion to Republic Pictures as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development and later Senior VP of Sales where he and his team brought to the home entertainment market such highly acclaimed films as Bound, The Usual Suspects, Freeway, Once Upon A Time When We Were Colored, HYPE!, and Angel Baby. Mr. Szwak later joined the industry's second oldest independent supplier Monterey Media, Inc. where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and was responsible for the sale of new release and catalog DVD product to retailers and rentailers, distributors, and internet sites in the US and Canada. He brings 26 years of experience in the video rental industry and holds a BA in Psychology from Rutgers University.

Daniel Weinblatt

Vice President, Corporate Controller
Mr. Weinblatt joined DVDPlay in June 2008, as Vice President and Corporate Controller, and brings with him more than twenty years of financial management experience. Prior to joining DVDPlay he was Vice President and Corporate Controller for LGC, Wireless, Inc., a leader in specialized wireless coverage and capacity solutions for carriers and enterprises. At LGC, Mr. Weinblatt spearheaded the financial and legal due diligence efforts for its merger with ADC Telecommunications (NASDAQ:ADCT) . Before joining LGC, Wireless, Mr. Weinblatt was Corporate Controller for Micro Linear Corporation, a leading supplier of highly integrated digital wireless transceivers. Mr. Weinblatt also lead the financial and legal due diligence efforts at Micro Linear for a merger with Sirenza Microdevices, Inc. Mr. Weinblatt holds a CPA from New York (inactive) and is an active member of the California Bar. He received his BS in Accounting from the State University of New York, Binghamton and a JD from Santa Clara University’s School of Law.
